Hannah Barclay

Hannah Barclay is an emerging visual artist living and working on Dharawal Land. She is a National Art School 2019 BFA graduate. Her practice is primarily in ceramic sculpture and installation, exploring the temporal and material qualities of the ceramic medium. The focus of her practice draws on the similarities between the visceral quality of exploited landscapes with the human body represented in her manipulated bulging textural sculptures. Barclay’s work explores ideas of production and labour and how this causes trauma on the body and on the land. She pushes her forms through incorporating different mediums from the landscape to converse through time with the sculptural pieces.
